September 10, 2009 — Apparently Google enlarged itself. Go ahead and go look at Google’s home page and see if you can notice the enlargement. Go ahead, I’ll wait! Did you see it? No? Look Closer… Yep! That’s right — they enlarged the search box. Google nearly doubled the width of the search box and made it even bigger in height.
Marissa Mayer, Vice President, Search Products & User Experience at Google, posted on the company’s official blog about this ground breaking change to Google’s home page. “Although this is a very simple idea and an even simpler change, we’re excited about it — because it symbolizes our focus on search and because it makes our clean, minimalist homepage even easier and more fun to use.”
What will they think of next?! Maybe we will see the actual search buttons get enlarged too!
