Overview

HP revealed its new series of mini screened netbooks 1101 and 110.Both the netbooks are offered in windows as well as Linux operating system. The 110 series is a better netbook as it has an optional BVA Broadcom Video Accelerator and has all the features of a standard business notebook. It has a sleek design, wireless options and long lasting battery life that lasts for more than 9 hours without recharging. Both the new series use 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1 to 2 GB of memory, and 250GB hard drive with Linux version and also has auto-sync software. This software can easily sync all the documents, files and media, the netbook is small but bunches all the essential technology.

Design

The well-known Dutch designer, Tord Boontje, designed HP’s mini netbook by using the very new 3D PC surface technology. The design features imprint 3D, LED display without mercury and a 92 percent of full sized display. It is designed brilliantly in three colors which include black, pacific blue and moonlight white.

Features

HP Mini 110 is powered by Intel processor Atom N455 which is quiet consistent, and consists of 10.1” LED display, 1GB of system memory, Windows 7 (optional), hard drive of 250GB and a 6-cell battery that lasts for more than 9 hours. The data can be transferred through three USB ports and the connectivity is very flexible, as there is a web cam which keeps you connected 24 hours. HP’s quickweb and quick sync connects quickly to web and synchronizes all the data when connected in the same network. There is also a cloud drive which helps to store online files and is also accessible from any computer in network. It also features a media card with a built-in video graphic array VGA port for connecting to a monitor. The one who loves to stay connected at high speed, there is optional mobile broadband with Qualcomm Gobi technology. HP provides very good warranty and security support, and also provides services for all of this through HP total care. It is secured with Symantec Norton Internet Security (60 days trial).

World’s lightest 12.1 inch laptop is here! The Panasonic Toughbook S9 has claimed to be the lightest 12 inch laptop (with DVD drive) in the world and its researchers have proved it right. The sturdy S9 offers an exceptional durability with high performance and an endurance to bear all kinds of beatings. With an 11 hour battery backup, is the best option for professionals who are always on move.

Design and Performance

At first when you look at the Panasonic Toughbook S9, it appears to be bulky; but the 8.3” x 11.1” x 0.9”/1.5” laptop with a weight of approximately 3 pounds, is the lightest laptop in the 12-inch category. The case of the S9 is made of tough magnesium alloy and also features a shock mounted flex-connect hard drive, which can bear rugged environments and can also withstand a fall of almost 2.5 feet. The MIL-STD-810G drop procedure in the S9 too allows it to endure falls from any angle. The keyboard and touch pad are also designed to resist spills, bumps and knocks.

The Toughbook S9 has got a 12.1-inch, widescreen LED display with an anti-glare coating and a resolution of 1280×800. The anti-glare coating is very efficient for outdoor usage, another plus point for mobile professionals who have to work in bright lights. The S9 is also the first laptop in the Toughbook series to feature a HDMI video output, a welcome addition.

The USP of the S9 can be, it’s claimed, 11 hour long battery backup, which is one of the longest offered in laptops currently. This feature alone is enough to sell the S9 as hot cakes. The machine also features a combination of fingerprint sensor and TPM security chip, for protecting sensitive data. The laptop has a PC Card slot, but it would have better to have the latest ExpressCard standard. Also, the price of the S9 is bit on the higher side.

The Bottom line

The Panasonic Toughbook S9 is an amazing laptop, packed with an excellent body build and performance. It is a sturdy, rugged and durable but lightweight machine, which can withstand falls and spills. Also, the 11 hour battery backup is a great boon. The price can be an issue, as it is bit steep. But for the mobile professionals and outdoor enthusiasts, the S9 is a great deal.

In recent times, there has been a huge influx of 11.6 inch laptops, which are neither Netbooks nor standard laptops. The Dell Inspiron M101z is one such laptop and the problem is that no one knows what to call these mid-sized laptops. Nonetheless, the M101z is a power packed laptop with AMD’s new processor, the dual-core Athlon Noe II, a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive and 4GB of RAM. The M101z also has another version, the AMD Neo K125 which comes with a lower price.

The dual core version in the M101z works like magic with some amazing features and excellent speed. But it is almost as costly as a standard laptop and by paying slightly more you can get an Intel Core i3 system. It has got a brilliant design and build-quality and is perfect for someone who wants a performance oriented machine in a small size.

Design and Performance

In design part, the Inspiron M101z definitely leaves a mark. The design is smart, with a black screen bezel and dark grey body, complementing each other perfectly. The M101z also comes with four attractive colors- black, blue, red and the very eye-catching pink. Dell is going charitable with the M101z, with a part of the total cost of the pink colored laptop going to Susan Komen’s breast cancer organization.

The keyboard of the M101z is quite solid and sturdy with flat-topped and widely spaced keys. The user-friendly design of the keyboard allows quick and comfortable typing. Dell has also worked on the touch pad, which is significantly improved. The mouse buttons are separate and fairly sized. The touch pad also consists of fundamental multitouch gestures, like two finger scroll with a friction free surface. The laptop has an 11.6 inch display screen with a resolution of 1366×768 and also features a 1.3 webcam and microphone. The company has placed the display screen on the top of keyboard to bring the screen closer. But this hinged design restricts the screen to be tilted only to 120 degree.

The performance of Inspiron M101z, with its new AMD processor, is impeccable. It is not as fast as the standard i-series laptops; however, it is far better than the other 11-inch laptops of recent times. The graphics are amazing thanks to the AMD chipset.

The battery life of the M101z is decent, with the 56Wh six-cell battery lasting for approximately 3 hours 30 minutes in a video test and about 4 hours 30 minutes in a normal audio and web surfing test. The speakers are excellent, delivering high volumes with great quality.

We remember the very first Macbook Air laptop launch had been welcomed along with astonishment as well as complete wonder. It had been Apple’s tiny as well as slimmest laptop computer, the nearest point to a genuine ultraportable. There’s one simple way to figure up the new 11-inch MacBook Air: It’s constantly ready on the go. Not only does this notebook weighs a plain 2.3 pounds and possess a razor-thin outline, its use of flash memory means you’ll never have to wait to start surfing the internet, touching up photos, or making FaceTime calls.

Overview

The thickness and depth of the MacBook Air (11-inch)-11.8 through 7.7 inches-are the same as Windows-based laptops such as the Asus UL20FT-A1 as well as Acer Aspire 1830T-3721, however exactly what Apple shaved away when it comes to width helps make the other two seem like giants. It’s difficult to evaluate exactly how dreadfully slim it’s before you get a hold on this, and set it against the slimmest thing you’ll find in the room.

The leading frame, which steps only 0.11 inch, is really slimmer compared to back of the device (0.68 inch). It is slimmer, certainly, compared to any kind of existing Netbook in the market. The 11-inch MacBook Air’s razor-thin body is delightedly proportional in order to how heavy it is, since it’s 2.3-pound body is definitely lighter in weight compared to Acer UL20FT-A1 (3.3 pounds), Acer 1830T-3721 (3 pounds), as well as Dell Inspiron M1010z (3.4 pounds).

Although Apple found a way to squeeze in two USB ports and a speedy solid-state drive (SSD), the MacBook Air is not closely as characteristic packed the remaining MacBook family, yet it would cost you a bit more. Still, it will give the latest batch of Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) laptops a run for their money.

Keyboard and Touchpad

A great ultraportable keyboard would make you overlook that you are utilizing a more compact laptop, and the 11-inch MaBook Air passes the test with soaring colors. As per usual with Macs, design consists of devoted keys to modifying the volume and brightness, playback functions, and each expose as well as Dashboard. It also has a power button in the higher right corner. The arrow keys are a bit small, but have no difficulty in usability. Lacking the backlit functionality, that’s the only drawback of the Mac.

Apple leverages its extra huge glass touchpad to full result on the 11-inch MacBook Air, which offers isolated precision and a soft navigation experience. It also incorporates well with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, permitting users to accomplish all types of multitouch signals. A pinch-to-zoom effort works well in iPhoto and Safari, and it was essential to minimize all open apps with a four-finger descending swipe. A thrice-handled filch allow to zip the images in iPhoto. Overall, this ultraportable offers an ergonomic experience.

FaceTime Camera

Thanks to the new FaceTime notebook application, MacBook users could make video calls to other Mac owners, as well as to those who have an iPhone 4 and the recent iPod touch. The system procedure was a bit of an ache, requiring a creation of a new account and confirming the e-mail address before usage. Then, we just gave a friend the e-mail address we used to sign up and he called us from his iPhone 4. Wow wasn’t that an experience.

The Bottom Line

The MacBook Air which is 11 inch, ($1,199 immediate), Apple’s most recent admittance to the ultraportable room, is not any Netbook computer, despite the fact that it is the nearest to Apple’s tries to creating one. In some incidents they mentioned it as the solution to the increasing Netbook demand in computer marketplace, although priced 3 times more. It is noticeably thinner than the unique MacBook Air, with a screen twice smaller.

At first we thought the rather thick bezel around the screen would verify distracting–until we curved the 11-inch MacBook Air on. You won’t get a brighter, crisper, or more vibrant display on a notebook this class. Photo and video editors will find this 1366 x 768 panel easy on the eyes. Websites looked good as well. The Air’s wide screening angles allow you to share slideshows and videos with a couple of individuals.

If you like Apple products, then have you purchased the new iPhone 4S? Check out all of its new features such as its awesome camera, siri and iCloud.

Overview

Dell is stopping the Inspiron duo’s puzzling promotion videos and formally revolving its display for the world to see, finally! People will be unable to click an order button about the completely distinctive 10.1-inch tablet or Netbook Duo now days, although according to Dell, it will increase with respect to pre-order at some point rapidly and begin delivery the very first 7 days associated with December.

For prices, the bottom design will begin from $549 (£449), and can load up the dual-core Intel atom N550 processor chip, 2 GB memory, a Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator for graphics, 250GB of storage space, as well as Windows 7 Home Premium. Normally, we can deal with this having a bigger hard disk, as well as including which JBL-powered speaker clock.

Since people must have assumed, the Inspiron Duo appears like an ordinary Netbook through very far. It’s the gleaming cover — it will be obtainable in which “marlin” blue color plus “foggy night” dark as well as “fastback” red in color — and its plastic edges house the typical ports, such as 2 universal bus controller port and also a sound jack port. Underneath the cover, it has a pleasant sensation with Chiclet keyboard which appears very similar to the Dell Inspiron M101z along with a decent size touch pad along with 2 mouse control keys. Yes, this seems more of a run-of-the-mill Netbook computer, that’s before you check out its 10.1 inch, 1366×768 resolution, and capacitive touch screen as well as thrust it towards the back. Divide the display, padlock it into the place, thrust the cap down and now this is tablet computer.

The touch screen by itself has been very attentive to gentle faucets, however much more fascinating is the fact that this instantly commences Dell’s Duo Stage user interface layer in slate mode. The user interface, that packages many of the exact same social network functions since the one’s ability, is actually finger-friendly and offers use of Dell’s songs phase, video clip phase, picture phase, as well as guide phase programs. It will not help to make moving Windows 7 simpler by itself; however it provides an alternative solution with regard to press usage actions. Thinking of Drawbacks? The memory is not expandable, there is no optical drive, and the battery is also not removable. Dell’s Will Koch mentioned the battery life will be about 4 hours, based on a range of uses.

Although Windows 7 has touch abilities, but that does not mean it works easily as compare to an Apple iPad. You can use your fingers to control software intended for the superior precision of a mouse pointer, but it is not actually comfortable on a 10 inch screen. It is OK for internet surfing in easy mode, but you’ll often want to spin the screen and use the keyboard though. That’s why the easy alteration is so important.

The bottom line

Just as we had paid attention to, Dell is putting an end to the Inspiron Duo’s mystifying advertising videos and formally revolving its screen for the world to see.
